I saw this helpful infographic that I think a lot of you will find useful as you attempt to find some sort of inspiration for your content writing. I often hear from clients that have no clue about what they could possibly write about in a blog. I think the tendency, and often the mistake, is to think you need to write about your own business in every post. Obviously, it’s helpful if what you’re writing about is in some way connected to the line of business that you’re in. But if you think about blogging similar to Twitter and/or Facebook updates, it’s typically the updates that are good old social commentary versus self aggrandizing or narcissistic “guess how awesome I am” type posts that people find most engaging. Take a look at your own blog posts (and your Facebook updates PLEASE) and consider whether you’re the aggrandizer or the commentator. I think you’ll find much more success in the latter, both in terms of audience engagement as well as search engine rankings.
